Donald Burley Henegar, age 94, longtime Sun Lakes resident and Sun Lakes Rotarian, passed away on September 27, 2017. He was preceded in death by Mary Henegar, his loving wife of 66 years. He is survived by his son, Gregg Henegar of Boston, Massachusetts. Don was born on May 10, 1923 to Merle and Harley Henegar in Arcola, IL. He attended public schools in Hindsboro, IL and then went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Agriculture Department. His college education was interrupted for eighteen months of service in the U.S. Naval Air Corps. After World War II he completed his education and entered the work force, culminating in eighteen-year tenure as Cashier and Board Member of the Minonk State Bank in Minonk, IL...
In retirement, Don moved to Arizona where he became a dedicated volunteer and patron at the Chandler Center for the Arts, serving twelve years on the Board of Directors and also served on the Chandler Cultural Foundation Board. Don became an avid hiker, and as an early member of the Sun Lakes Hiking Club, conducted weekly hikes to all parts of Arizona, including five trips to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with his beloved wife, Mary.

 He was a valued asset of the Sun Lakes Rotary Club, having joined in 1992. He served as Club Treasurer along with other committee posts.
