Meet our new 2020-2021 Sun Lakes Rotary Club President, Jon Lyons who is a native of Arizona, born and raised in Phoenix.  Jon received BS degree in Accounting from Arizona State University (ASU) in 1980 and began his vocational career in Phoenix with 36-years at Allied Signal/Honeywell.  His work disciplines included finance, sourcing, quality control, lean manufacturing, and operations.  Additionally, he experienced several company segments in aerospace, automotive, automated control systems and corporate.
 
After retirement in April 2016, Jon has enjoyed more time with his wife Karen of 39 years and their two children and four grandchildren who live in the immediate area along with world travels and enjoying the sport of hockey.  Jon first joined the Chandler Rotary Club before transferring to the Sun Lakes Club in 2017.  Jon and Karen live in a home located close the Sun Lakes Community, and since joining the Sun Lakes Club he has been involved in local club education programs and projects.  Over the last two years, Jon has been the Club Membership Chair and then decided to accept the leadership position as Club President for Rotary Year 2020-2021 starting July 1, 2020.
 
Our 2020-2021 Rotary theme is Rotary Opens Opportunities and Jon has challenged our club with five (5) Club Goals to be accomplished this Rotary year in:

  • Rotary Foundation Giving
  • Service through projects
  • Youth Leadership
  • Public Image and Social Media
 
Through Jon’s personal actions, such as climbing to Machu Picchu and carrying our Club Flag to new heights, he has proven that We are People of Action.  Jon asks, are you ready to Get Your Game On for this Rotary year?
