At the 24th Annual Charity Golf Tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes (Arizona) on March 26th, there will be a Pre-Auction item that will be for a party of up to three to play golf with a member at the fabled Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York. It will include lunch at the Club...

The winner and his/her threesome may play Winged Foot at any convenient time Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, between May and October 2017.

You cannot pay to play Winged Foot. It is a private course for members and guests only. But through the courtesy of Winged Foot, you can play if you win this prize.

This Auction Item is now open for bidding. If this spectacular package is something you would like, submit your bid to Don Bell via dbell@usfamily.net or call him at 612-396-0069. The bidding will start at $600. You will be advised if your bid is exceeded by someone else in the event you want to revise your bid. Bidding will conclude the day preceding the Tournament on March 26, 2017.

Winged Foot's West Course (7,264 yards) has hosted the U.S. Open five times and the PGA Championship once. The East Course (6,750 yards) has hosted the U.S. Women's Open twice and the U.S. Senior Open once. In 2020, the U.S. Open will return. With its sixth U.S. Open, only Oakmont Country Club and Baltusrol Golf Club have hosted the tournament more times.

Winged Foot is blessed with two great 18-hole golf courses that are excellent to walk -- and players are encouraged to do so with the assistance of caddies. Weather and course conditions permitting, golf carts are available for those on the Approved for Golf Cart Use List (Seniors ~age 70 years and older and those with a Medical Need).

The very name "Winged Foot" has a sort of magic for those who know the club from afar. To them, it stands for competitive golf at its highest level -- a place where history was made by Bobby Jones... and others (like Phil Michelson, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, etc). But for those who know Winged Foot intimately, it is much more fun and meaningful than a place of big occasions. It is a steady heartbeat of golfing pleasure and sportsmanship, where the game is the thing and where many great matches and tall tales have been spun. Winged Foot is, in sum, a temple to the spirit of golf.
