Dave was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. During high school, he worked at Children's Hospital in Iowa City, receiving training in orthopedic limbs and braces and worked with children during a peak time in the polio epidemic. Drafted into the Korean War immediately after high school, Dave was sent to Walter Reed Hospital to continue work in orthopedics with returning injured military personnel...

During this time at Walter Reed, Dave married his high school love, Joan Sentman. Completing military, Dave and Joan returned to Ames, Iowa where their son, Steven was born. Dave completed his bachelor's degree at Iowa State University. After Iowa State, teaching and coaching football in Iowa secondary schools, the family increased to three sons.

 

Dave continued his education with a graduate fellowship program at the University of North Dakota and later, graduate studies at the MIT, Cambridge Institute. He worked at AT&T in a variety of positions. In addition to AT&T, Dave was an instructor in Computer Science at Mesa Community College.

 

Married for 62 years, Dave and Joan have five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Volunteering has been an important commitment, working with the Pioneer Organization. Dave was active in the Community Assistance Program with the Sun Lakes Fire Department.  Welcome David as a new member to the Sun Lakes Rotary Club.
